Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep condition characterized by increased daytime sleepiness and unexpected sleep attacks. People suffering from narcolepsy frequently struggle to stay up for longer periods of time, regardless of their circumstances. Narcolepsy can seriously interrupt your regular routine.

The disorder may also produce sleep paralysis, in which you are physically unable to move immediately after waking up. Although narcolepsy may occur on its own, it is also linked to other neurological illnesses including multiple sclerosis.

The signs and symptoms of narcolepsy may worsen for the first few

years and then continue for life. They include:

  • Excessive daytime sleepiness

  • Sleep paralysis

  • Changes in rapid eye movement sleep

  • Hallucinations
