Sleep Apnea is a condition in which you experience abnormal patterns in breathing while you are asleep. This is a serious medical condition that occurs when the body takes less oxygen. It can also cause you to wake up in the middle of the night. There are several types of sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea - where the flow of air stops because airway space is obstructed or too narrow Central sleep apnea - where there is a problem in the connection between the brain and the muscles that control your breath. Complex sleep apnea - also known as treatment-emergent central sleep apnea, occurs when someone has both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.
